Pro Spotlight: Full Swing Golf Simulators

Can’t wait to get out on the golf course? Many of our clients are going crazy for golf simulators. This is a trend you don’t want to swing and miss. With a golf simulator in your custom home, you can hit a round anytime, day or night. Several of our clients have chosen Full Swing golf simulators for their homes. ALSO, it is important to know if you want a golf simulator early in your custom home design process.

We asked Full Swing’s Ryan O’Keefe a few questions about the trend.

Why do people choose Full Swing simulators?

Ryan: Our patented dual-tracking technology gives our customers the most accurate and complete simulation experience with real ball flight just like you were playing outside. The other element that really separates us is the versatility of our product: We put a customizable driving range and 84 championship courses in your home, and also provide 13 different sports experiences for the whole family and a space that doubles as a home theater to watch shows, games and movies as a family with friends.

What is your philosophy about helping clients?

Ryan: We make sure, from the first time we speak with our potential simulator owners, that they know we are here to help make this process as easy for them and their builder as possible and that we are here to answer any questions along the way.

We make sure that the installation is completely turnkey for homeowners. Once we have the room dimensions and photos or architectural drawings to work from, our team creates a CAD drawing for them and their builders so they know exactly how the simulator will look in the space. Then when it is time for the install, our team handles everything start to finish, we bring all materials, installers and handle the build. From there, we train the homeowner on how the system works. If they need anything, we have a support line they can call and we can actually remote into their simulator to help out.

What’s new in golf simulators?

Ryan: In addition to advanced technology, the experience has become truly immersive for golfers and, more importantly, versatile beyond golf. The simulators offer various sports experiences like football, baseball, hockey and zombie dodgeball among others. And they can be a full home theater option for the family.

Most people who have not had a chance test our golf simulators have a similar first reaction: It’s unlike anything they’ve ever tried before. It’s more realistic and truly an experience versus just a way to find out how far you are hitting your golf ball with some added data.

What should custom home buyers consider when choosing a golf simulator?

Ryan: Make sure it’s something that the whole family can enjoy, for both the golfers in the house and the rest of the family. The versatility of the simulator really allows you to build it as a multi-purpose space that does not necessarily only have to be dedicated to the golfer: The space can double as a home theater and a game room, as well. By having the ability to switch between 84 championship courses and more than 13 different sport experiences at the touch of a button, it’s a space that the whole family can use. It also can transform to the biggest and best way to watch your favorite sports team, movie or show on a 12-foot screen.

Any design factors to consider?

Ryan: Space is key. We have a variety of solutions for homes of all sizes, but the biggest thing is making sure that you will feel comfortable swinging a golf club without worrying about touching the ceiling. While we are flexible on sizes, it’s ideal to have a space with a minimum of 9 feet 6 inches of ceiling height, 18 feet of depth and 12 feet of width.

Are golf simulators becoming more popular?

Ryan: It started to give golfers a new way to play the game when the weather or time of day didn’t allow them to play outside, but it has evolved into so much more. We are not just a rainy day option: Golfers around the world want to play quicker, get data feedback on their game and play their way on their time. As schedules get busier, it’s harder for people to carve out four to six hours for a round on a course.

Get Your Game On

When you build a custom home, you can add whatever amenities you like. Many of our clients outfit the lower level of their homes to be perfect entertaining spaces. They add home theaters, golf simulators, wine rooms, wet bars, craft rooms, yoga studios and more. If you can dream it, we can build it!
